Great Bourton housing development latest . . .

A public exhibition was held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 12th October to provide an opportunity for residents to examine the latest information regarding the housing development proposed for Garners Field on Main Street Great Bourton.  Residents were invited to complete a feedback form and some residents took a form home with them to complete.
Project background:
In April 2015 outline planning approval was granted for 33 dwellings and a new Community Hall. The approval required further submission of full details of the layout, scale, access and landscaping (Reserved Matters).
Following the granting of the outline planning permission pre-application discussions have been held with the Planning Officer for the submission of the reserved matters. The report from the planner confirmed that the outline permission has therefore established the principal of development on the site. She also commented that original layout submitted with the outline would not be acceptable, in particular the Community Hall needs to have a presence to the street, the number of detached units created a suburban form and did not show local distinctiveness to the village or variety to create an appropriate design solution.
The comments and directions made by the planning officer have given rise to a the revisions to the scheme. The requirement to achieve the housing mix of the adopted local plan and the introduction of terraced units has led to the need to increase the number of homes proposed in order to ensure the delivery of the affordable housing required and the new Community Hall. The planning application submitted has increased the number of dwellings to 43, an increase of 10 in total with 7 additional smaller private sale houses and 3 additional affordable homes.

Because of these changes directed by the planning officer, the Parish Council have prepared a further survey to assess residents’ view on the revised application, the results of which, together with the feedback from the presentation evening,  will be discussed at the next Parish Council meeting on November 1st.  We have negotiated an extension for our reply to the planning officer in order to accommodate the results from the survey. A copy of the survey document is here.
