There is a new government requirement for voters to show an accepted form of photo ID when they vote at the polling station.
This will apply for the first time when the local council elections happen on Thursday 4 May and it is important that all residents are aware of this.
Anyone who does not have an accepted form of photo ID will be able to apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate.
For further information about Voter ID, what residents may need to do next, and which forms of photo ID will be accepted at polling stations, visit the CDC website here.
