Our first Wildlife Day, last year, proved extremely popular. Whether you came along then or not, please make a date for 25th June: this year’s Wildlife Day is going to be jam-packed. Refreshments available and if you wish, bring a picnic!
Hedgehogs are taking centre stage this year: we’re going to build up the Bourtons’ hedgehog sightings map we began last year; have a ‘name the hog’ competition; and one of the information tables will be run by our local hedgehog rescue centre, the Nutkin Ward.
Some of the children’s art activities will also be hog related. Did you come along last year? If so, you will be able to admire 2021’s textile creation (where we literally banged flowers and leaves onto the material with hammers) which is to be hung in the church – it is beautiful!
Did you help make Buggingham Palace, or the mosaic bird bath? – you will be able to see them in all their glory.
On top of all that, hopefully you have read about the Wildlife Friendly Community project recently –what can we all do to help? What is achievable? How can we improve biodiversity in the Bourtons? Can you improve habitats in your garden for pollinators and wildlife? How can you make a difference?
